This week our topic has been The Gingerbread Man and we learnt the story off by heart using actions and a story map. Hopefully you have already been treated to a rendition at home! The children were really engaged in the story and there were countless role plays of it throughout the week and lots of discussion around the characters in the story. Finally we got to bake out own gingerbread men today and they smelt delicious!
In maths this week we have been learning about money and everyone has had a great time visiting the shops in the different reception classes and taking on the roles of the customer and shop keeper. It has encouraged such a rich use of language around money which has been lovely to see. We have looked closely at the 1p, 2p and 5p coins in particular with regards to identification and value.
Our phonics sounds this week have been:
/z/ zig zag zebra
/zz/ buzzing fast
/y/ yummy yoghurt
/qu/ Queens waiting quietly
Your maths challenge this week is to take a picture of you buying something in a shop. It can be a real shop or a shop that you have set up at home. Make sure we can see your money! Please send the photos to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Have a lovely weekend!
