Sleeping Beauty

This week we have been studying the traditional tale of Sleeping Beauty. As it is a music themed week we have learnt a song to retell the story, and actions to reenact what happens, which the children have all really enjoyed. Maybe there could be a rendition at home!!

In phonics we have continued to learn to write new kinetic letters using the Brave and Scared monkeys. This week we learnt the final two letters in the Jumper family and were introduced to the Abracadabra family:Jumper Family

/b/ start at the brave monkey, pull down, bump, back up to scared monkey, push over, down, and pull round and hug the tree.

/p/ start at the scared monkey, pull down, on down into the spiders pit, back up back up to the scared monkey, push over, down, and pull round and hug the tree.

Abracadabra Family

/c/ start at the scared monkey, pull round, down and push.

/a/ start at the scared monkey, make a ‘c’ – pull round, down, and push, abracadabra, up like a helicopter, back down, bump, flick.

Can you show your family how to write these letters?

In maths this week we have been consolidating our learning of finding 1 less than a given number and jumping backwards on the number line to find the answer. We have also introduced the language of ‘taking away.’

Your maths challenge this week is to send in a picture of you with one LESS than 10. You can use your toys, food or your fingers to show the answer. Please send your photos to sophielavender@rosendale.cc

Finally, please check book bags as another trip letter has gone home today, and if you have time please bake some cookies for the class Christmas fair stall!

Thanks for all your support and have a lovely weekend.
