Fabulous RSL writers!

Well done to these children who have been busy using their sounds to do some wonderful writing!

We also have lovely examples of ordering objects by size and weighing objects.

Happy Chinese New Year 🦃

What an exciting and colourful week we have had in reception! We have spent the week learning all about Chinese New Year celebrations and traditions. We were also lucky enough to have a school trip to a restaurant in China Town to taste some of the delicious Chinese food. On Thursday we had a whole school assembly about Chinese New Year and learnt even more information. Here are a few videos from the assembly:

In maths, we have been learning to count objects and have been working hard to make sure we don’t miss an object out when counting.

In phonics, we have learnt three more digraphs (two letters that make one sound) and even learnt a trigraph (three letters that make one sound). The sounds we have learnt are:

/ai/ let it rain

/ee/ I can see

/igh/ jump up high

/oa/ float in a boat

We have also been practising to write tricky words ‘no’, ‘the’, ‘I’ and ‘to ‘.

Home Challenge:

This week your challenge is to try and write some sentences with any of the above tricky words in e.g. I like to go to the shop.

Please send in a picture of your work (sophielavender@rosendale.cc) with your name on it and we will post it on the blog and add it to your learning journal.

Have a lovely weekend!

We had a great day in Chinatown today! When we arrived we had time to look around trafulgar square before following the red lanterns up to Gerrard Street. Once in Chinatown we went on a scavenger hunt in our groups to find objects such as dragons, waving cats and lanterns, before meeting outside Lido restaurant for our delicious Chinese feast. A massive thank you to Elizabeth, Cat, William, Andrew and Lea for their help today we could not have done it without you.

Late return

We have had a brilliant day at Chinatown but I am afraid we will be late returning to school.  We are currently on a the bus enroute but are likely not to be home until 3.45pm. Huge apologies.
